Like a screen sheltering a treasure, the slatted woodwork creates a play of light and shadow while ensuring the residents’ privacy. The subdued tones of the extension’s materials create a contrast that clearly distinguishes the new intervention from the existing structure. While preserving the period charm through the faithful restoration of original moldings, woodwork, and plaster, the project also ensures accessibility by integrating a residential elevator, a secondary circulation staircase, and lifting platforms at the front and rear—all discreetly embedded in the layout.
